Time after time
We at Author Made had the complete honor and joy to capture Vicky & Robert’s 50th (!) anniversary vow renewal and wedding reception this June at historic Tanner Hall in downtown Winter Garden, FL! Not only was this an incredibly special moment for these two lovebirds celebrating five decades together, but this moment, date, and location all held such significance. Not only did the celebration take place on the exact date of their 50th wedding anniversary, but Tanner Hall has actually been used as a wedding venue for 3 generations of vow renewal celebrations for their family!
Vicky had been planning their heartfelt vow renewal since January, leaving no detail to chance—the entire event was fully planned by herself (and she truly pulled off a spectacular event!). However, one thing could have thrown a wrench in her plans: that afternoon we witnessed one of the first big storms of the summer season. However, even the bad weather didn’t throw off the festivities and it even served as another special reminder of their first ceremony 50 years ago: it was also raining on their wedding day in 1974.
A family affair
One of the most beautiful touches of Vicky & Robert’s vow renewal was just how involved their family was in the event. Before the guests arrived, all the family members were working together to set up the wedding venue for the evening’s celebration, from setting up a display of Vicky & Robert’s original wedding photos to putting the finishing touches on the table centerpieces. While their grown children seamlessly handled coordinating the set-up efforts, Vicky & Robert snuck outside for an intimate exchange of a bracelet (for Vicky) and a ring (for Robert) to commemorate their years together and the years to come.
Once the finishing touches were finalized and the weather cleared, it was time for guests to arrive. Friends and family traveled from all over the country to be a part of the special day—some of whom were from the original wedding party!
Here’s to 50 years—and counting
The evening began with the vow renewal ceremony, which took place in the middle of the reception. There was a quiet in the air as Vicky and Robert began to renew their matrimony vows for one another: everyone present could feel this was a holy moment. One of the sweetest moments of the vow renewal was when Vicky and Robert played special songs for one another (as romantic messages that I’m sure only the two of them know). Following the vows and kiss, they stepped over to the dance floor to hold their first dance of their next 50 years together!
The family connection didn’t end with setting up the wedding reception—family members gave a touching presentation showcasing highlights of Vicky and Robert’s life in 50 years (accompanied by many teary eyes in the room!). Following the presentation, guests mingled and enjoyed their meal while Vicky and Robert stole away outside for some sunset pictures: right on cue, the clouds had rolled away to reveal another stunning Florida sunset.
The party was just getting started when the Author Made team left, our work completed: now it' was time for Vicky and Robert to dance the night away with their nearest & dearest before setting off into their second happily-ever-after!
What an incredibly sweet, powerful, and memorable evening it was to celebrate Vicky & Robert’s 50th wedding anniversary. Our best wishes to the happy couple, and here’s to many more years of joy!
